The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization.  A community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million - men and women - in more than 14,000 American Legion Posts worldwide.

 

Department of Iowa

The Department of Iowa has nearly 70,000 members in 632 Posts throughout the state.

 

Chauncey Butler Post 514

The Chauncey Butler American Legion Post 514 is named after a WWI soldier who was killed in battle.

There are currently 130 members in the Post.  The Post meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the hall at 105 W. Main Street, West Branch, Iowa.
